We recently spoke to Andrew Fellows, Online Tuition Manager at Gem-A (The Gemmological Association of Great Britain), regarding their use of our Moodle reporting service - Learner Data Reports (LDR).
The organisation subscribed to the service over 12 months ago, when the standard method of extracting data was becoming tiresome and time-consuming. HowToMoodle provided Gem-A with this unique, self-developed service for the company to extract data for it's 60 courses.
Using the service a few times a month, Andrew says;
"I currently use 'Learner Data Reports' to extract data on assignments and tests from across multiple courses, often exceeding 60 in one run. LDR allows me to access the information I need more quickly, and download it in a form easily transferred to graphs and tables. Prior to this, data was downloaded on a course by course basis, sometimes taking days.
Other users can also access the same data, quickly and efficiently, by way of the saved reports."
This reporting service for Moodle allows administrators to produce consolidated reports (including user profiles, marks, course and activity information and completion statuses), across multiple courses if required. It's simple to use functionality and speedy creation of reports has enabled Gem-A to benefit from vast time-savings compared with it's previous data extraction methods.
Andrew would recommend it's use to others, commenting;
"A very powerful tool! Definitely an added benefit to any Moodle site. We have one admin person, and multiple courses worldwide, and this tool has allowed far greater analysis of user data."
