Trouble viewing Vimeo videos in full screen in Moodle

In newer versions of Google Chrome there is an issue where embedded videos from Vimeo will not display in full screen within a URL resource in Moodle.

When using a video URL within Moodle to display a video from Vimeo there are issues with the latest versions of Google Chrome which cause the video to not display in full screen mode.

URL resource

It is possible to work around this issue by adding the video as a page resource instead. In order to do this you will need the embed code from Vimeo, this can be found on the video itself under the ‘Share’ options.

Embed Vimeo code

Once you have the code copied you can add a page resource within Moodle. In the ‘Page content’ Section you can click the Icon highlighted below to bring up more editing options.

Page Content

You can then open the HTML source editor by clicking the button shown below.

You can now paste the copied embed code into this editor and click ‘Update’.

Now delete the additional text that was added.

Now the video will display when you click the page resource and you will be able to view it in full screen.
